Sustainability and resource optimisation from sourcing to delivering are at the heart of our business strategy, products and operations. Raw materials sourcing is governed by our sustainable procurement strategy, we manufacture sugar products in our technologically advanced and efficient production facility and choose delivery and distribution partners that share our values.

As our most valuable asset, we invest in learning and development to grow the skills and diversity of our workforce. We promote our human rights, anti-slavery and whistleblowing policies, alongside SEDEX Members Ethical Trade Audit (SMETA) audits that demonstrate our commitment to the ethical treatment of our employees and those of our suppliers and partners.
Quality assurance and ethical standards
Oversight and governance by third-party assurance and standards organisations provide Ragus with the accreditations and certifications that qualify us to supply the most demanding customers in the industries we serve.
The Sugarmark is a global symbol that adheres to the international quality criteria ‘Codex Alimentarius’, approved by the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations and World Health Organization food standards programme.
BRC Global Standard
The BRCGS is a trademark belonging to the British Retail Consortium. The logo is used by companies and organisations that have achieved BRCGS certification in the Food Safety, Packaging, Consumer Products, Storage and Distribution Sectors without any exclusions to the scope.
ISO 9001: 2015
ISO-9001:2015 Certification is the internationally recognised standard for the quality management of businesses, improving product, process and service quality.
ISO 14001:2015 Certification is the principal management system standard specifying the requirements for the formulation and maintenance of an effective Environmental Management System.
ISO 45001:2018 Certification is an Occupational Health and Safety Management System used, this demonstrates an organisations commitment to a safer working environment and the protection of employees against injury at work.
Organic Food Federation
The Organic Food Federation accredits organisations with the Organic Food Federation Certification. Use of its logo certifies that an organisation’s qualifying products are fully compliant with organic regulations, made with raw materials grown according to organic principles and free from artificial preservatives, colours and flavours.
The Fairtrade Mark is an independent, trusted and widely recognised product certification that reinforces the message that Fairtrade producers have received Fairtrade terms when selling their products. It is a registered trademark of the Fairtrade Foundation.
Bonsucro is a global non-profit, multi-stakeholder organisation fostering the economic, environmental and social sustainability in sugar cane production. Use of its logo confirms an organisation’s membership within Bonsucro, and the member’s commitment to creating and maintaining sustainable sugar cane supply chains.
Charity and local community support
We support charitable causes and our communities, local and global, with practical and financial help. Each year, we partner with two charities – a local organisation, and one that has sustainability as its core focus. In 2022, we have extended our strategy to include a third charity partner that’s making a direct impact in helping those affected by the war in Ukraine. Scroll to learn more about our partners.
Thames Valley Adventure Playground
A charity supporting children and adults with all types of special needs, their families, and carers. Its specialist indoor and outdoor facility in Maidenhead, west of London, opened in 1982 to provide recreational and learning spaces for those unable to make meaningful use of mainstream provision.
Khalsa Aid International
A UK-based humanitarian relief charity providing support around the world to victims of natural and man-made disasters such as floods, earthquakes, famine and war. It is often one of the first on the scene to provide what’s required in the early days to save lives, reduce people’s immediate suffering and help maintain their dignity.
Project Seagrass is a global facing environmental charity devoted to the conservation of seagrass ecosystems through research, community and action. Its mission is to lead societal change to enable the recognition, recovery and resilience of seagrass ecosystems globally; that provide biodiversity, equitable and sustainable livelihoods, and planetary life support.
